NHS Scholarship Apps due by Feb. 16. Over 300 scholarships will be awarded nationwide.

Applications for the 2015–16 National Honor Society (NHS) Scholarship program will open next week. The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), parent organization of the National Honor Society, has awarded NHS Scholarships since 1946, providing more than $12 million in scholarships to outstanding NHS members.
Applications and further information will be available in the NHS Scholarship section of the website on November 16.

Student applications and all recommendations must be completed online.

The deadline for student applications is February 16, 2016. NHS advisors and the high school principal must submit recommendations and certify applications by February 24, 2016.

This outlines what’s new with the program this year:
You may now allow any eligible senior member of your NHS chapter to apply for the scholarship; this removes previous limits on the number of applicants per chapter. NHS seniors in good standing of an active chapter are eligible by their chapter to apply. The phrase "seniors in good standing" is generally taken to mean members of the current graduating class (12th graders) who are continuing to meet the standards by which they were selected and who are up-to-date on their chapter obligations—but check with your adviser for your local chapter's policy.
The scholarship criteria include the four pillars of NHS, as well as financial need, demonstrated by eligibility for participation in the National School Lunch Program.
The number of scholarships awarded will increase from 200 to 300 national semifinalists. All semifinalists will receive $1,500 scholarships. Twenty-five national finalists will receive an additional $1,500—for a total of $3,000. The national winner will now receive a total of $15,500.
Scholarships are announced in May.
